First phase of the project spread over 72 acres in Sector 22 of Panchkula technology park, was launched in September 2007. Around Rs 8.50 crore was spent on various developmental works in the park. The state government had plans to set up units for IT, ITeS, robotics, nano technology, mobile computing, mobile communication, chip manufacturing, biotechnology including genetics, and other research and development facilities in the park
2015.
After failing to pick up operations for the last many years, the ambitious project of Panchkula IT Park spread over 74 acres is slated to see development soon, with the first IT company and few others speeding up the construction process.
The technology park, which was initially expected to provide jobs to 40,000 people, is being developed by Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructural Development Corporation (HSIIDC), after it took the land from Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) in 2007.
An integrated complex situated in Sector 22, behind the Nada Sahib Gurdwara, the technology park consists of 28 industrial plots, apart from some commercial sites and institutional sites.
“As many as 17 companies were allotted the plots, and many of them are in the process of construction. As most of the companies were allotted the plots in 2008, so, as per the schedule, they should be functional around 2015-16. This will also help in providing lot of employment opportunities to the people of Panchkula,” said Assistant General Manager, HSIIDC, R N Gupta.
Altruist Technologies Private Limited, a city-based mobile social networking solutions provider, was the first IT company to start its operations with a staff of 120 people. The second is Rolling Constructions Private Limited, a construction company which has built 12 floors building spread over 9 acres, and is in the process of inviting IT companies to acquire space on lease for setting up offices.
Most of the companies which have been allotted plots are local ones, including Mobera System Private Limited, Kansan News, Stylam Industries, Chandigarh Softech, Appworx IT Solutions, Innovative Solutions, and Innovation Technology by Design Private Limited.
Delhi-based companies Praxton Impex Private Limited, Paramount Software, Noida-based FCS Software Solutions and Deepika Home Linkers, Karnal-based Vintegrate Technology and Bangalore-based Vishwa Infotech have also been allotted plots.
The other sites in the IT Park include one for a hotel, a sarovar (lake) behind the Nada Sahib Furdwara and a BSNL office. Meanwhile, the basic infrastructural work has been completed.
